Hyperion
The Typeface
Hyperion is a custom made typeface in search of a crossover between nature and technology. Hyperion, one of Saturn’s moons was the inspiration for the typeface as well as its namesake.
Hand sketches were the basis of the typeface development. The letterforms were transferred to Illustrator and then FontLab to be kerned and compiled.

Some of the sketches
Various sizes of grid paper was used to draw the original shapes. This helps the type designer create individual letters that share a common identity.

Font Metrics
The font metrics shown along with a typographic sample of letters. Illustrator was used to create the entire alphabet of letters. Fontlab was used to encode them into a typeface.
